Nail Art: Zebra Zone

I’m a nail art addict.
So I’ve come up with a tutorial section for easy-to-do nail arts.

For today, I’ll be teaching you how to do some zebra prints on your boring white nails. Here’s what you will need:

White nail polish
Black nail polish
Nail polish remover
Clear nail polis
Slim nail art brush
Cotton

Note that your nail art brush is a very slim version of your regular nail polish brush. I got mine from Watsons. It came with the regular polish bottle, I just had to swipe off the polish with cotton and acetone to be able to use the brush for other colors (para-paraan lang, girls!)

So here goes, let me know if they’re confusing. There’s a comment box below.

Step 1: Clean your nails and remove any previous nail polish residue using cotton with acetone.

Step 2: Color your nails with white polish as the base coat.

Step 3: Carefully paint black stripes over the white base using the slim brush.

Tip: To get a good zebra-looking print, start painting a single line from the leftmost side to the middle and do the same thing starting from the rightmost part to the middle (see sketch below). Do this alternately.

Don’t worry about not making straight lines. It looks more “zebra-ish” if the stripes are not flat straight.

Step 4: Apply some clear polish to seal the art. Then let it dry.

Voila! Cute zebra prints on your digits!! Easy, right? I have some more E-A-S-Y designs to teach you, so watch out for my next posts!

Outbreak Manila, Run For Your Life!

The walkers have reached Laguna.

Of all these fitness races all over the country, this fun run came off pretty rad. Well, who’s heartbeat wouldn’t race if you’re being chased by zombies in every direction? Two thumbs up for Outbreak Manila who organized this very first zombie-infested fun run last Saturday, April 14, 2012 in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The zombies, or walkers as referred by the tv hit series The Walking Dead, are the main obstacle of this race. I had a blast watching runners and walkers outsmart each other for a game of speed and strategy. I didn’t join the race for I am chickened out by the idea and seeing the zombies in their gruesome costumes makes me relive The Walking Dead episodes that I was doing a marathon a few days ago. Witnessing this event is definitely a fun way to end my “Zombie Week”!

Running for your life.

The idea is to survive the five-kilometer run with at least one lifeline (or flag, as others call it) intact. Before the race start, runners will be given with three lifelines and they will have to dodge the approaching flag-catching zombies during the run in order to stay “alive.” I thought it was an easy task but then I heard the participants having a tough time dealing with the walkers along the course and I have seen a few ones who had actually fallen down in panic… LOL!!! Check out my video:

A participant runner Franc Ramon said in his blog: “The first two kilometers had the runners going through the trail with series of zombies to overcome and an obstacle where you have to crawl and go over some gartered room. At the second kilometer, you get to choose the easy way or the horde way which would then intersect at around the 3rd kilometer and goes on until midway to the last kilometer where you end up going through a maze. The last 500 meters is the dash to the finish with Zombies lurking.”

Everyone’s a cast.

Around five thousand people had participated in this race and they had a total of 25 waves of runners. The walkers were on duty from 6am to 12pm in order to accommodate all waves. I had the chance to take some photos of the event and was entertained by some of the participants I found:

Haha I didn't expect them: Son Goku, Spiderman, Ronald Mcdonald, and a Ninja. They were Asar.com's costumed runners.

This Michael Jackson zombie kept on dancing on the field, reminds me of PVZ days.

Of course, I won't miss the photo op.

He's actually the first zombie I saw when I arrived in Nuvali...

...and was very accommodating for a shot.

These gang really flocked me when I asked for pic. Take a look at that guy in black torn shirt. He looks like T-Dog from The Walking Dead series, right??????

Some more walkers...

OF COURSE! My favorite macho yum-yum zombie!!!!

Keeping at bay for the next outbreak.

Well one thing’s for sure. This is not the last Outbreak run that's gonna happen. However, it’s still early to know when and where then next one will be. I promise I will keep you posted or if you want to check it out yourself you can go to www.outbreakmanila.com to find out so all of you who missed this exciting event can still join the next one. I read somewhere that the Outbreak team is planning a midnight one. Scary!!! I think I will try to participate as a zombie on the next race and I’m sure these fellas are also thinking about the same thing, well except for Ms. Sunflower. J

Go Bet A Red Velvet!

Its the Red Velvet invasion! Owmygawd!

I wasn't really into red cakes and all until my friend Aujane went back to the Philippines a few years back and lead us to a place that offers this incredible goodie. I was so curious to know what the hype is about and when I saw (and tasted!) this reddish-brown cake topped with white cream cheese frosting, I quickly went gaga!

Now, I'm so astonished to find these mouth-watering treats that some genious pâtisseries have come up with, in line with the traditional red velvet cake. Check them out and tell me if they'll pass or crash!
